About Us

People First Cybersecurity started off as a desire to help other families protect their children.

As a parent and someone who’s worked in the computer industry all his life, I didn’t realize that it gave me a unique perspective on raising a child in the digital age. Many of the parents I’ve spoken to understand that too much access to technology can be bad for children, but few knew where to set those boundaries and even fewer knew of the very real dangers that kids could face online with unfiltered access to the internet. And why should they? Cyber security isn’t something the American education system has adopted as a mandatory part the curriculum. And while the common core standards do introduce the concept of Digital Citizenship, it only covers the very basics of computer usage and online etiquette.

In general, the only adults I’ve met who understand basic cyber security are those whose jobs required them to learn in order to protect company assets. Corporations, government offices, and other institutions can’t afford to ignore cyber security because it hurts their ability to function. But who’s watching out for the rest of us? The people who make up society and do the day-to-day work that keeps the world going round?

People First Cyber was formed to do just that. To help bring cyber security to the people in a friendly and accessible way.

Troll cross inside a triangle

Our logo means protection

Our logo is a troll cross in a triangle.

The troll cross, also known as a trollkors, was designed in the late 1990s by Kari Erlands, a smith from western Dalarna, Sweden. She allegedly found the protective rune on her grandparent’s farm hanging above the barn, and it was said to have been placed there to prevent trolls from eating the cows. Since its introduction, the troll cross has come to represent protection from evil magic and trolls.

There is something poetic about using a modern day rune to represent protecting people from modern day trolls. As for the triangle, it symbolizes the homes that we want to protect.
